Local riders are invited to support a charity ride, called
'The Ride for the Little Black Dress', organised by the Jodie Lee
Foundation. This foundation was established in 2010 by Nick Lee in
memory of his wife Jodi who lost her battle with bowel cancer at
age 41. This was a battle she'd fought for two years with
incredible bravery and dignity.
The ride, which will see all riders in little black tutus,
commences in Canberra 10th March,
coming to Beechworth in the evening of Monday 12, continuing on to
Mansfield the next morning, Tuesday, 13 and concluding in Melbourne
on 16th March.
We would love for local riders to join us at the Bakery for
breakfast from 7.30am. Tom O'Toole will be there in his little
black outfit, joined by John Hennessy and Rob Holden.
The plan is to
then have all riders, including John on his Penny-farthing, Tom on
the bakery bike and Rob on another antique bike, join the charity
riding group on their way out of town at 8.30am, and perhaps even
to Everton.
The more riders to join in, the better the attraction factor
for the media, to assist in communicating the group's mission to
save lives through awareness, early detection and the prevention of
bowel cancer. (You might not be aware of it but Australia has the
highest incidence of bowel cancer in the world yet despite this,
funding for the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme was
discontinued by the Federal Government in December
2010.)
